On Saturday morning, around 1 a.m., I was alerted by the alarm company that there was movement in my medical clinic; subsequently, the police were called to investigate. Upon entry to the building, there were clear signs of destruction across the clinic. Additionally, while in the clinic, movement was heard in the ceiling, and the police officers were able to find the entry point from the outside of the building and observed a male hiding on the roof. I want to thank the officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force for their stellar work in response and capturing the person involved.
This has been the second burglary incident since my ratification for the Free National Movement. I want to state that I am not discouraged; however, I’m disappointed that someone would break into a medical facility and destroy a place where those in need come to seek medical care. I adjusted operations to repair the facility, which had hindered our service slightly to our patients. I want to emphasize that despite the setback, I am committed to providing quality healthcare to all of our patients and serving the Bahamian people.
