The Free National Movement FNM’s position on marital rape has been consistent under my leadership: A woman—married or single—has the right to say no. When that right is violated, there must be legal consequences.
On multiple occasions, the FNM has publicly called for changes to the law to protect all Bahamians. Any solution must strike the right balance—protecting victims while ensuring the law is not exploited.
Despite recent mischaracterizations, our party’s stance has always been clear. Meanwhile, the government continues to stall, admitting they won’t act this term.
While the Progressive Liberal Party PLP cowers in fear of losing votes, the FNM is not afraid to address this issue with the seriousness victims deserve.
