Oswald John Marshall affectionately called “Ubbie” was a true Freedom Fighter and political activist whose only fight was to end the oppression by the PLP. He took on this fight in the early ‘70’s and never gave up. He was instrumental in the party’s growth and its historic 1992 victory.
Ubbie was always willing to share his political and analytical skills and was a mentor to many, including myself, on campaign strategies. He was unselfish. He was a dedicated FNM supporter and said he would be there through the shame, the blame and the fame.
He never gave up. He would be very quick to do post mortems on our losses and offer constructive and more effective ways to continue the battle. Even from his sick bed, he admonished us to keep focused and take our country back. His efforts earned him the highest award of our party, that of Meritorious Council Member (MCM). He remained a humble, yet fierce warrior for the cause.
It is with a heavy heart, that we share in this loss of a great soldier, an extraordinary man, a great FNM. His expertise and wisdom will be greatly missed.
On behalf of my wife Berlice and myself, and by extension, the entire Free National Movement, I extend sincerest and heartfelt condolences to the entire Marshall family. We offer our prayerful support during this dark period. May the God of Comfort bring you peace and may Oswald’s soul Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.
