FNM LEADER ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO MAKE FINAL PREPARATION AS SUBTROPICAL STORM NICOLE APPROACHES

Nov 10, 2022

We are advised that Subtropical Storm Nicole is moving towards the Northern Bahamas. The Islands that are within its cone of possible impact include Grand Bahama, Abaco, Bimini, The Berry Islands, Eleuthera and New Providence. It is also stated that Nicole can produce hurricane conditions over the next few days.

We are encouraging residents on each of the aforementioned Islands that are within the path of the storm to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves, their families and their property.

My colleagues and I have been in contact with various representatives on the above mentioned Islands throughout the day and I am convening an emergency meeting tonight via zoom with party officials as well as contacts on those various Islands to activate a response in the immediate aftermath of the passage of the storm.

Understanding the unpredictability of these weather systems we again encourage all residents within the path of the storm to be on high alert and to pay close attention to all official weather updates from the Bahamas Meteorological Department and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

I am also asking for all Bahamians to cover the residents on each of the Islands in the path of the storm in prayer. END
