It’s Official: PLP’s Economic Plan A Potential Disaster in the Making

Mar 14, 2021

The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding the PLP’s reused economic plan from 2012:

“What’s old is new again for the tired, old, woeful PLP. After a historic defeat in 2017 had Brave Davis talking about change, the Nassau Guardian accurately points out, the PLP’s ‘new’ economic plan is largely a recycle of the PLP’s Charter for Governance, released ahead of the 2012 general election, and which has gone largely unfulfilled’.

“Clearly the ill-conceived roll out of the plan by Brave and his loquacious protégé Chester Cooper, was met with a collective thud putting the PLP’s new dynamic duo in full defensive mode. The collective media pushback to Chester Cooper’s wild-eye, ill-advised, VAT revenue claims – based on wishful fantasy more so than actual hard data – has them scrambling after the media lambasted them by saying the details are ‘glaringly absent’ from their plan. Their fanciful mortgage relief plan was met with the hard reality of the PLP’s past which showed a series of debacles and unmet promises. Nothing they offered up inspired much, if any, confidence in the old worn-out broken promises they trotted out as part of their ‘new’ plan.

“As Chester and Brave prove, the PLP never has had a problem talking, but Bahamians have never seen them actually act and follow through on all their lofty, pie-in-the-sky rhetoric. So, while Brave and Chester are busy scrambling to patch up their fairy tale policy agenda stolen from the past, the Minnis Administration will continue fighting for new jobs, better education and more transparency, because they are working hard every day to position use for a better future for all Bahamians.”
