Brave Davis Political Rhetoric Won’t Stop a Third Wave

Jan 26, 2021

The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement in response to Brave Davis’ continued politically driven rhetoric criticising the government’s pandemic response:

“Throughout his life, even before entering politics, Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis has had one goal—protecting and saving lives. In the midst of a global pandemic, he has continued to operate with this mentality. This vision and proactive approach is what has led to The Bahamas ranking as one of only 28 countries that is beating COVID-19 according to 4,000 scientist and community organizers worldwide. Last week, The Global COVID-19 index identified The Bahamas as among the countries with ‘a low percentage of infections and resulting deaths per population.’

“The Minnis Admiration understands that in order to maintain this success, we must remain vigilant and we must continue to follow the pandemic measures that has helped us to keep cases low to this point.

“Brave Davis and his PLP colleagues continue asking what the plan is to prevent a third wave but in the same day they will criticize the very actions our government is taking to prevent a third wave. The woeful PLP’s nonsensical political games aren’t keeping anyone safe. If we take a look to our neighbors to the north, COVID-19 is spreading like wildfire, much due to the back-and-forth policies, indecisive actions and decision based on politics rather than data; they made this deadly disease a political issue and now the disease has infected over 24 Million people.

“Despite the woeful PLP’s politically-driven antics, Prime Minister Minnis will continue to implement the tough but necessary decisions, through guidance of leading healthcare professionals, to prevent a third wave and keep Bahamians safe. We encourage our friends on the other side of the aisle to work with the government in keeping Bahamians safe, before playing political games.”
