Davis’ Dismissive Attitude is Shameful

Jan 5, 2021

The Free National Movement (FNM) issued the following statement regarding Minority Leader, Brave Davis’ dismissive attitude towards the recent indictment of Peter Nygard:

“It’s been over three weeks since Peter Nygard, The Bahamas own Jeffery Epstein, was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and more. And while the US prosecutors revealed that many of the rumours surrounding Nygard’s involvement and support for the PLP were in fact more than rumour, Davis continues to play ignorant.

“Pretending to forget Peter Nygard’s last name in a recent interview with Eyewitness News won’t win Brave an Oscar, and his continued silence won’t win him the benefit of the doubt from Bahamians that know the PLP’s silence is indicative of the facts they wish to keep from the public. Questions remain unanswered—questions such as: How much did Nygard contribute to the PLP’s 2017 campaign when Brave was Christies top lieutenant? Can they state that have not taken any money from Nygard since the 2017 election and will they disavow any further contributions from him? When will they contribute the amount of money they took from Nygard to a victims’ fund?

“For Davis to even pretend like he doesn’t know Nygard, when all Bahamians are aware of the pictures and video evidence of them together, on more than one occasion, is salt in the wounds to the Bahamians that fell victim to Nygard’s horrific offenses. From their destructive tenure in power for five years, until this very day, the woeful PLP continue proving they are in it for themselves and not the well-being of all Bahamians.

“We are hopeful that in the process of justice being served to Nygard, those who enabled him and protected his atrocities are also held to account. The FNM gladly reminds all politicians of the strides our government has made to create a more transparent and accountable Democracy, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Minnis, we will continue fighting to hold those involved with Nygard responsible, as we deserve nothing less from our elected leaders.”
